Tool 03 / public records

Look at the records the internet sees.

Returns the address, mail, nameserver, certification-authority and start-of-authority records published for a domain.

Worth knowing

Missing optional records are not necessarily a problem. CAA, for example, is only required if you want to limit which certificate authorities may issue.

How to read the result

  • An A record for the bare domain plus a CNAME for www is the usual shape.
  • MX priority numbers are ranked lowest first.
  • NS records tell you who actually answers for the zone.
Enter the bare domain, for example example.com. Use a subdomain as its own host.
